our story

in honor of

justice michael kiziah chin

July 8, 1996 - August 3, 2021

The Live Like Justice Foundation is a non-profit organization that has been created in honor of my brother, Justice Chin. His unexpected and tragic passing from a brain AVM rupture left us with an empty hole in our hearts. He was 25 years young. Justice’s happiness was infectious. He was an amazing brother, son, and friend who could always be found smiling. He was deeply loved by our community and his passion for skateboarding demonstrated that he was the kind of guy who wholeheartedly pursued what he loved.

In death, as in life, Justice’s foresight and selflessness benefited others as he chose to be a full body organ donor, helping to save and improve the lives of 4 people with his heart, pancreas, liver, & kidney donations, and over 250 people with his eye and tissue donations.

In the wake of his passing, his family, friends, and fellow skaters shared stories of the many ways he touched their lives, through his kindness, incredible sense of humor, & unconditional friendship. At his celebration of life, speaker after speaker spoke of his light and spirited manner. As a result of this love, the idea to rename the local skatepark in honor of Justice was conceived.

Recently, the City of Hollywood acknowledged Justice’s impact on his community by officially naming the local skatepark in his honor: Justice Skatepark is located at 750 Knights R. in his hometown of Hollywood, Florida.

On March 27th 2022, we held our first fundraiser for the Live Like Justice Foundation at Justice Skatepark. ‘Butter Skate Fest’ marked the official reveal of the Justice Skatepark signage & raised funds for the planned renovation of the skatepark, which has been approved by the City of Hollywood and is currently in its design phase.

The Live Like Justice Foundation’s mission is to provide a safe space for local community involvement, host future projects that bring together community, art, and skateboarding as an outlet for everyone, and inspire others to #LiveLikeJustice in all of their affairs.

Justice was so many things to so many people, but above all he was a LIGHT.

If you made it to Stanley Goldman Memorial Park after school or on the weekends you were bound to run into Justice and he was sure to put a smile on your face and lift your spirits.

Life is short and unexpected, and we should all strive to #LiveLikeJustice and treat others with love, compassion, and respect no matter the circumstance.

Having his legacy live on means so much to all of us, and leaves a clear message motivating us to never stop improving our own lives and the community that we are all honored to be a part of.
